Castle Daly

Daly is also an Irish sports horse. He is a 16 hands 1 Gelding. We have owned him since July 2001 when he was six years old. The unusual weather conditions in autumn and early winter 2006 exposed a health problem that Daly has had since birth. He became very ill with some colic like symptoms and visible problems walking. He was subsequently diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic which is quite rare and a challenge to effectively treat. Daly spent the winter of 2006 on four months box rest and treatment. Working with the vets we have been able to reduce his weight and regulate his diet to help control his condition. Hopefully he will be able to start eventing again next year, although this may present a few more medical challenges.
